What is IEC?


Can Export/Import be made without IEC?

No. IEC forms a primary document for recognition by Govt. of India as an Exporter/ Importer.

What are the benefits of IEC?

On the basis of IEC, companies can obtain various benefits on their exports/imports from DGFT, Customs, Export Promotion Council etc.

What are the documents needed for an IEC application?

Documents are listed below:

  1. Bank Receipt /Demand Draft details evidencing payment of application fee of Rs. 250/-. DD should be in favour of Zonal JDGFT, New Delhi.
  2. Certificate from the Banker of the applicant firm in the format given in Appendix 18A (Part B).
  3. Self certified copy of Permanent Account Number (PAN) issued by Income Tax Authorities(both sides).
  4. Two copies of passport size photographs of the applicant. Photograph on the bankers certificate should be attested by the banker of the applicant.
  5. Self addressed envelope duly stamped for Rs.15/-(for Local Address) & Rs.30/- (for Outstation).
  6. These documents may be kept securely in a file cover.

IEC Documents Required

Individual / Proprietor / Partner / Director

  1. Copy of PAN Card
  2. Passport size photograph
  3. Copy of Aadhaar Card/
  4. Voter identity card
  5. Authorization letter (In case of Partnership)
  6. Authority from other Directors on letter head (In case of company)
  7. Copy of Partnership deed (In case of Partnership)
  8. Board Resolution/self declaration (In case of Company)
  9. Telephone Bill in the name of the Individual (In case of individual)
    Cancelled cheque of individual


  1. Copy of PAN Card firm/company
  2. Copy of Property papers (If owned property)
  3. Copy of Rent agreement (If rented property)
  4. Landlord NOC (Format will be provided by us)
  5. Cancelled cheque of firm
  6. Electricity/ water bill (Business Place)
  7. Telephone Bill in the name of the business
  8. Copy of Service Tax returns (In case of Proprietorship)
  9. Certificate of incorporation (In case of company)
  10. Bank statement of firm/company
  11. AOA and MOA (In case of company)
  12. 1 letter head of company (In case of company)
